Construction Management Development Program
CMDP Technical Assistance & On-The-Job Training
As a result of the needs assessment or classroom instruction, areas of deficiency are identified for which technical assistance (also known as on-the-job training) may be appropriate. Any participant in the CMDP-BGP may request technical assistance in any area of training provided as part of the program.
Objectives of Technical Assistance & On-the-Job Training
- To provide hands-on advice at the job site
- To provide individualized counseling and advice to S/DBEs in areas such as:
- Project Planning Methods
- Bidding and Estimating Including FDOT Bid Preparation Methods
- Job Costing and Scheduling
- Business Administration and Management
- Contract Negotiation and Plan Reading
- Project Performance, Including Setting Up the Job Site
- Cash Flow Methods and Quantity Take-offs
- FDOT Procedures on Billing and Payments; Quality Assessment; and Control Methods
After a technical assistance request has been completed and approved a technical assistance plan is developed which includes but is not limited to addressing the identified needs of the S/DBE, developing an approach and/or the type(s) of training required to resolve the problem.
