Before registering for any course or receiving any technical assistance, the owner of a small or disadvantaged business must complete a program application and a Needs Assessment form. Each of these documents must be filed with the FAMU-SBDC/FDOT CMDP-BGP office in Tallahassee, Florida.
A three-member committee evaluates the Needs Assessment within 90 days of receipt of the SBC/CMDP-BGP application. The purpose of the Needs Assessment is to determine the areas of strengths and weaknesses of the applicant in terms of proficiency and capability in performing on highway construction and transportation support related projects. FDOT has established twenty-one (21) Proficiency Standards and Guidelines. Applicants with a composite score of 85 and above will receive exemption from the classroom-training component; and composite scores below 85 may be prescribed courses and or technical assistance to correct areas of weakness or deficiencies.
